#5MinutesStrong #Will2Dare

Harland Stonecipher  challenged us to "DARE GREATLY." Let's accept the challenge and have the WILL to DARE! W = W rite down affirmations daily in a journal. Let me address a good question, “what is an affirmation?” An affirmation is a small positive statement which you repeat to yourself, to reinforce or change thinking patterns on a sub-conscious level. Our minds generate a constant stream of sub-conscious chatter. Although we are often unaware of the substance of that chatter, it is frequently a stream of negative thoughts. Affirmations are a conscious decision to implant quality thoughts and to repeat those thoughts to such a degree that they become a belief. Becoming aware of your negative or sabotaging thoughts is the first step. You then need to stop those thoughts as soon as you recognize them. Most importantly, you need to replace those thoughts with positive affirmations. Affirmations are always stated in the positive. Replace, I am broke and in debt, with “A

#5MinutesStrong #ItIsOk

It’s OK to go after what you love in life, and don’t take no for an answer. o A little orphan boy had a pet donkey and he it became very ill. He wanted to take it to church to have it healed, but the friars would not let the donkey in. He was told to lead it down to the basement sanctuary, but it could not fit down the stairs unless a wall was removed. He was told that only the Pope could give permission to remove the wall. So the boy went to the Vatican. He was repelled by the Swiss guard, and turn away by a secretary who threw the flowers he sent to introduce his plea out the window. The boy was dejected, and started to leave, but a father was walking in the Vatican garden and saw the discarded flowers. It looked to him as if they were weeping blood onto the feet of a statue of Jesus. He read the note, and raced to find the orphan. He was granted a visit and petition to the Pope, who granted his wish, and the wall was taken down and his pet donkey restored to health. It’s OK to b

#5MinutesStrong #PowerOfLanguage

The Power of Language to Persuade USE THIS MAGIC WORD When you approach a prospect, try using the word “willing.” It’s the one word that changes the way people respond to requests, according to research. “Are you willing to try somewhere new?” “Are you willing to explore a new business opportunity?” This way you are not asking about their preference, but soliciting a response that probes the type of person she or he is. Are they open, rather than are they interested. MAKE IT PERSONAL When people receive a handwritten request with their name on it, they are 40 percent more likely to respond than without a handwritten message, according to a study from Sam Houston University. We use a LOT of digital technology, but when you hand out Success From Home, think about having a handwritten note for your prospect attached. This shows concern for them, and makes it personal. The message can be the same each time, but adding her or his name at the top and your initials at the bottom will im

#5MinutesStrong #RioOlympics

LegalShield Family, Yesterday, the anthems of more than 205 countries were played to the cheers of millions of people across the globe. Men and women from all walks of life, backgrounds and beliefs carried the same torch and carefully passed it from hand to hand—beginning the 31st Olympic Games. This event provides us with an opportunity—a responsibility-- to reflect upon the power and purpose of overcoming obstacles and reaching for a greater good. The Olympics, especially in these trying times, must be more than a symbol—it is a call to action. And action—every action- starts with an individual and builds to create change. That change can be positive or negative—it is up to you to decide. In the USA, there has been a steady drumbeat of negativity over the past many months. As we prepare for November elections the drumbeat is getting louder and faster. The most heart wrenching outcome of this negative rhythm is the battle between citizens and law enforcement. Whenever we witness

#5MinutesStrong #WeAreNotAPyramid

This past week, the FTC sanctioned HerbalLife and fined them $200 million. We know that the FTC closed Veema last year. Today I want to clearly articulate why LegalShield is the perfect model for network marketing; why we are the perfect home for those involved in the wrong type of direct selling business and why we believe that this model will help use grow by 10x. To begin, we have two products that add tremendous value to human life -- LegalShield and IDShield. We can promote and protect those products by a number of different means. We choose the path that adds an additional value to life -- network marketing. The added value is equality of opportunity. This is our choice. All those who are in LegalShield have made this choice. The alternatives to network marketing exist -- hire sales people, selling directly to consumers -- but they both lack the ability to provide a business opportunity where too few business opportunities exist. I don't know much, but I do know that th

#5MinutesStrong #GettingResults

This week we must focus on moving prospects from consideration to enrollment – new Associate team members and new members in LegalShield and IDShield. Despite the simplicity of this concept there is a perpetual shortage of people who excel at getting results. Today I want to focus on “The Action Habit — the habit of putting ideas into action now. It is essential to getting things done. Here are 6 ways you can grow the Action Habit: 1. Don’t wait until conditions are perfect – If you’re waiting to start until conditions are perfect, you probably never will act. There will always be something that isn’t quite right. “Bad Timing” or “Bad Economy” or “Too much competition.” Listen to Nick Serba’s 3-2-1 and get serious about your business. In the real world there is no perfect time to start. You have to take action and deal with problems as they arise. The best time to start was last year. The second best time is right now. 2. Be a doer – Practice doing things rather than thinking

#5MinutesStrong #KindnessAndGiving.

A decade ago, an essay was written entitled “Always Go to the Funeral” and it has resurfaced recently. The author makes a powerful point, taught by her father’s actions, that we should make the effort to extend ourselves, or put ourselves in uncomfortable situations for the benefit of others. We all know what it means to be a hero. We just held a remembrance of those lost in the attacks of 9/11. When someone sees the weak or helpless in harm’s way, we act to save and support. But in this article, Deirdre Sullivan argues that when opportunities arise for a kind act, we should pursue it, even when it is inconvenient. A seemingly slight gesture, or offering of mere presence, may be awkward, may be bothersome, but can have a lasting impact. It’s always better to do something than to take the easier way out. As Ms. Sullivan, wrote: “I believe in always going to the funeral. My father taught me that…‘Always go to the funeral’ means that I have to do the right thing when I really, really

#5MinutesStrong #MentallyStrong

Just read a great article by Amy Morin called "13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do;" let me share. 1. They Don’t Waste Time Feeling Sorry for Themselves Mentally strong people don’t sit around feeling sorry about their circumstances or how others have treated them. Instead, they take responsibility for their role in life and understand that life isn’t always easy or fair. 2. They Don’t Give Away Their Power They don’t allow others to control them, and they don’t give someone else power over them. They don’t say things like, “I had a bad day because my prospect did not say yes,” because they understand that they are in control over their own emotions and they have a choice in how they respond. Detach your emotions from the outcome. 3. They Don’t Shy Away from Change Mentally strong people don’t try to avoid change. Instead, they welcome positive change and are willing to be flexible. They understand that change is inevitable and believe in their abilities to ada

#5MinutesStrong #CourageVsBoldness

The Difference Between Courage and Boldness I read a wonderful piece from Brett and Kate McKay on this topic, and I wanted to share it with you. They note that for the Greeks, the word andreia meant both courage and manliness. Courage was the sine qua non of being a mature man; the two qualities were inextricably intertwined. Thrasytes, on the other hand, meant boldness, and was more of a boyish trait. Acting with the boldness can occasionally be useful even for a grown man; sometimes impulsive, even reckless action is needed to seize a fleeting opportunity. But where boldness exists, it must always be coupled and harnessed with courage; courage must be the prevailing quality of a man’s character. Boldness Is Impatient and Fickle; Courage Is Steady and Enduring Boldness honors two things only: novelty and success. It feeds on them and without them dies. Boldness is impatient. Courage is long-suffering. Boldness cannot endure hardship or delay; it is ravenous, it must feed on

#5MinutesStrong #JoinTheMovement

First, there is no better time to join our business, and our crusade. We have grown for six consecutive quarters, but what matters is the acceleration -- 3%, 11%, 28%, 27%, 24% and now for the just ended 2nd quarter 33%! #5MinutesStrong #WishboneBackboneFunnybone

"To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone." – Reba McEntire Funny bone: • Have a sense of humor: Psychology Today says that a good sense of humor is on of the key characteristics associated with well-being. Humor maintains perspective. Now remember, as Steve martin says, “Comedy Is not pretty” – is makes fun of something or someone, so be sensitive. I find the best humor makes fun of oneself. It helps us maintain humility. • Humor leads to laughter. Laughter is healthy! It relieves stress. It stimulates our heart, and lungs. It increases endorphins. Back bone: • This is fortitude. This is constitution. This is courage. • A strong back bone allows us to face adversity. A back bone keeps us standing upright in the face of rejection and other hardships. A backbone allows us to stay strong in times of uncertainty. A strong backbone is predicated upon strong and committed beliefs. We recall our Purpose, Vision, Mission and Value.

#5MinutesStrong #LeadChange

As our Company grows, and as your personal and organizational business grows, we all must recognize that change is inevitable. We must all work toward setting up a process to help everyone understand and embrace change. In the past year, I argue that we have not changed the fundamentals, but instead have returned to them. This is a change, nonetheless. We believe in Tools & Events. We have updated our tools – we now use the LegalShield app to show people our service. We use Prospect by LegalShield to expose people to our service and opportunity. We have new magazines. This all feels like change, but it is really “back to the future.” We believe in events, and we are launching the new Millennial Tour nationwide to help everyone build their team with a powerful generation. This may feel like change, but it’s our fundamental business. Now before we discuss how to lead and manage change, let’s have some straight talk about why people resist change. First, too often, we experience

#5MinutesStrong #ExpectMore

EXPECT MORE. GOOD IS THE ENEMY OF GREAT: "Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected." - -  Steve Jobs TRANSPARENCY, CLARITY, DEVELOPMENT & EMPOWER: "When you give everyone a voice and give people power, then system usually ends up in a really good place. So, what we view our role as, is giving people that power." -  Mark Zuckerberg EFFORT & ABILITY, BUT WHEN IN DOUBT, EFFORT: "Work like hell. I mean you just have to put in 80 to 100 hour weeks every week. [This] improves the odds of success. If other people are putting in 40 hour workweeks and you're putting in 100 hour workweeks, then even if you're doing the same thing, you know that you will achieve in four months what it takes them a year to achieve." –  Elon Musk YOUR BEST IS YET TO COME: “Life is full of mistakes. You can't live in fear of making the wrong choices. You have to live it courageously and without re

#5MinutesStrong #LeadersAtAllLevels

Today I want to speak about leadership and let’s begin our exploration with some straightforward questi ons. First, who becomes a leader? Although leaders come in many shapes and sizes, a few personality characteristics are consistently associated with some who is likely to develop into a leader. The most widely cited research in this area shows that people who are more adjusted, sociable, ambitious, and curious are much more likely to become leaders. Second, what are the key qualities of effective leaders? The ultimate measure of leader effectiveness is the performance of the leader’s team or organization. Leadership is a resource for the group, and effective leaders enable a group to outperform other groups. While the same personality and ability traits described above help leaders become more effective, the best leaders also show higher levels of integrity, which enables them to create a fair and just culture in their teams and organizations. In addition, effective leaders are

#5MinutesStrong #DoItLikeDave

October 18 is Dave Savula’s birthday. Dave is a legend in our business and industry. He built a business larger than anyone else. If you want to build one even bigger, then let me share what Dave taught me. Today, I would like to remember him the day before his birthday by celebrating one of, and perhaps his greatest virtue – a commitment to ACTION. Dave Savula lived a life of action. He took the theories of business, of sales, of marketing, and networking, and he put them into practice, and became LegalShield’s #1 business builder and income earner. Dave showed us all that action transforms abstract concepts into concrete reality. Dave showed us all that action transforms abstract concepts into concrete reality. Dave understood that theories do no good unless they can reliably guide action – in our thinking and our physical activities. You can never know if a theory is practical until you put it into action. When you take a step forward you can truly understand

#5MinutesStrong #RockefellerPrinciples

The Rockefellian Keys to Success: I recently read Ron Chernow’s excellent biography of John D. Rockefeller. He writes that if there was one overarching principle to Rockefeller’s success, it is contained within this maxim of his: “I would rather be my own tyrant than have someone else tyrannize me.” Rockefeller’s life has many great lessons for us at LegalShield. His most striking quality was self-control, or what we might call self-discipline. He relentlessly improved his will power, training himself to be master of his emotions, desires, and schedule, so that he could direct all his energy towards achieving his goals. He set big goals for himself, and then attacked them with a disciplined, workaday ethic. Rockefeller understood that if you wish to be your own boss, you have to learn how to boss yourself. Here were his 6 keys to success: 1. Practice Relentless Persistence a. He was born in a clapboard house in New York in 1839. His mother was a solid, religious woman, but his

#5MinutesStrong #Bias4Action

1. Action is Cheaper Than Planning Do you know why the Wright Bros. beat out all the mega-corporations they were competing with in the race to taking the first flight? Action. Robert Greene explains in Mastery that the Wright Bros. had a tight budget and were forced to make small, cheap tweaks to each model. They would fly a plane, crash it, tweak it, and fly it again quickly. The corporations had budgets that allowed them to go back to the drawing board (i.e. abstraction) with each failure. They spent a ton of money and time on each redesign. The Wright Bros. had a hundred test flights in the time it took these big corporations to complete a handful. Every test flight taught lessons – the one who failed fastest gathered the most information. This applies to everything. Especially your life. Planning can paralyze you. That paralysis can lead to depression. Now do the opposite. Don’t over plan. Take action. 2. Action Allows Emergence Taking action creates possibilities that didn’t

Here are several of the Jeep ads of which I am most proud: "Swampland" "Jenny"  "Jenny 2" or "Parking Space" "Seal Pup" "Muddy Faces" "Polar Bear" Grand Cherokee SRT8 And here are two that we did not make, but inspired us, and indeed led us to hire back Gary Topolewski. "Snow Covered" "Hand of God" Here are some other historical clips that define our leadership at Jeep, including Trail-rated and Jeep King of the Mountain and Camp Jeep.

Why I oppose Light Rail through Kirkland in ST3

First, Kirkland is unlike other parts of the transit plan.  It contains 10+ Natural Growth Protection Environments (Wetlands) that will be permanently altered and potentially destroyed by the Sound Transit plan.  I'm shocked by the intellectual hypocrisy of those promoting transit in the name of global warming and the ignorance of or cavalier attitude towards this environmental disaster.  Moreover, this section of the former BNSF rail is narrow with precarious curves.  The amount of construction required to place rail with overhead electric wires, with or without bike and walking paths, will exceed the $1.5 billion dollars -- and remember, the system will move 5,000 people per day (and if you doubt that, ride the train to SEATAC....alone).  Second, whether the citizens of Kirkland successfully oppose having other parts of King County impose something upon them or not, it is the right of the people to be heard.  ST3 may well pass with light rail through Kirkland, but that does not m
